Really wanted to love this, but…,
…it looks better than it works. Mine sits on the counter because it looks so cool, but although I am a serious tea drinker, this isn’t the one I reach for. The polycarbonate (Lexan) is sturdy. So is the mesh. But the two aren’t easy to put together–or to separate. The metal mesh bottom doesn’t clean all that well, either.
What I do like is the little holder which effectively eliminates drips. I also like the fact that you can stir with the unit–something you may need to do, because it doesn’t infuse all that well. The top is solid, so that should have come as no surprise.

Nice Aethetics poorly designed product,
Being a product designer I was really attracted to the look of the Tovolo tea infuser. Unfortunately the holes are made way too small and the water has a very hard time infusing with the tea leaves. This product basically doesn’t work! The designer should have paid more attention to the most important detail, function! It was $10 poorly spent, don’t waste your time.

For Serious Tea Lovers!,
I know this product may look a little too 2001 Space Odyssey for some folks, but the Tovolo tea infuser (I have the green one) works really well. You only need to use a scant teaspoon, if that, of your favorite loose leaves. The extra room in the bulb allows the leaves to expand completely, unlike a regular spoon or small ball infuser. I’ve found that those compact the leaves too much and the tea in the middle of the resulting half-soggy mass goes to waste. Not with this infuser, though! Water permeates all of the leaves, giving you the perfect cuppa!

WARNING: NOT SAFE FOR FOOD USAGE!!!,
I bought this for Christmas, and as cute and functional as it may be, I cannot recommend this item to others, as it NOT safe for food usage! The duckie is HOLLOW inside–instead of solid plastic, as it should have been, and as I thought it was, when I bought it–and it has gaps around the head and base where liquids (tea and soapy water, when you wash it) can seep into it, and there is no way to get the head or base off to drain out the liquid inside. Because of this, the liquid that collects inside it gets stagnant and moldy, and if you then set the duckie in your tea, that inside liquid can seep out into the tea, contaminating it (whatever seeps into the duck can just as easily seep out again). Also, the black rubber eyes have partially melted from the hot tea, so I doubt those are safe either. I just wanted to warn everyone who has bought one of these ducks that they are NOT safe, and that the company that makes them should recall all of them, to avoid anyone potentially getting sick from using it.

Works really well!,
I received this as a gag gift, but I use it all the time now. The infuser is easy to fill and to clean, the “eggshell” holder is convenient, and the floating ducky means I don’t have to wrap a teaball chain around the handle of the teapot–or burn my fingers removing the infuser. Well designed, and cute as well.

Too cute!,
This ducky is absolutely adorable and the infuser holds a good amount of tea. However, the seal between the basket and the duck isn’t as good as I would like and lets some leaves escape. Also, the duck has had a habit of tipping over, especially when you have a shallow cup.
