The issue I take with Black conservatives is that they seem to have forgotten that the strides made during the Civil Rights Era were made despite the efforts and political ideologies of the vast majority if conservatives. Progressives of all races fought for equality, while conservatives sought to maintain the status quo. The United States is not post-racial. Not at all.

IN 2005 McCain issued a memo concerning the bad loans, but a petition of 70+ Dems led by Frank, & Maxine Waters & Charlie Rangel to Bush stopped any reform.

@dalecampbl6 The policies that led to the Bubble began really in 1989 when the Community Reinvestment Act was amended and began to be enforced and in 1992 when a further act on housing pressured banks into providing the bad loans. Further amendments occurred in 1995 and yes under Bush ’43. Pressuring banks into providing bad loans w/o down payments, background checks, et al were spear-headed by Barney Frank in the HR and Chriss Dodd in the US Senate.

The Smoot-Hawley Tarriff act of 1930 has been universally blamed for losses in jobs including the Great Depression. The notion that protectionism creates jobs has no basis in history at all.
