The Nutrition Twins

The Nutrition Twins® and Vidazorb® Offer Ways to Beat the Winter Blues

Vidazorb Your Chewable Probiotic

Beltsville, MD (Vocus/PRWEB) January 27, 2011

The cold depths of winter can bring on the worst of moods for even the most optimistic of people. In these winter months, it is important to know that there are measures one can take to improve their mood. “In the winter we are exposed to less sunlight, so we produce fewer endorphins and feel less happy,” says one of The Nutrition Twins, Tammy Lakatos. Certain foods and supplements can restore balance to the body and provide essential nutrients, uplifting mood from the inside out. Vidazorb® Chewable Probiotics and The Nutrition Twins® would like to share some great ways to boost your mood this winter:

Carbohydrates — Carbohydrates naturally boost the body’s feel good hormone serotonin. Incorporating healthy whole grains like Kamut khorasan or amaranth and baked potatoes are great options.

Dairy — Low levels of Vitamin D have been linked to depression. Milk, cheese and yoghurt are all great sources of Vitamin D. Go for low-fat and nonfat options. Surprisingly, mushrooms are the only plant source that contains Vitamin D!

Probiotics — “Probiotics contain good bacteria that help to keep our digestive tracks healthy,” says Tammy, “and research shows that they can boost our mood.” Try taking a probiotic supplement like Vidazorb®. Tammy takes Vidazorb “because they manufacture their probiotics in an FDA pharmaceutical facility, following FDA protocol and then after that they send them out to an independent lab for testing. So I know everything I am actually getting.”

Vitamin C — “Most of us get our Vitamin C from produce, and we all tend to get a lot less during the winter months,” says Lyssie. A great way to incorporate Vitamin C in the winter time is to make a conscious effort to eat more citrus fruits.

Green, black, white or oolong tea — Besides providing actual warmth, tea is a good source of antioxidants and L-theanine, an amino acid that creates a mental calmness. And remember, January is National Hot Tea Month, so drink up.

Exercise — Another great way to boost endorphins. Just a little bit of exercise each day will improve your mood.

Maintaining health and good spirits during the winter months can be much easier when following a nutritious diet. By adding a probiotic supplement like Vidazorb® to a healthy diet, many people may find that the winter months are not that moody after all.

Lipton’s Tea Master Challenges Australians to Make the Perfect ‘Cuppa’

Lipton’s Tea Master Challenges Australians to Make the Perfect ‘Cuppa’

Lipton Tea Morocco

(Vocus) August 11, 2010

For centuries, people all over the world have pursued the perfect “cuppa” and with 22 million cups of tea consumed in Australia each day, there will certainly be some varying brewing methods!

To assist Australians in brewing the perfect cup of tea, Lipton has teamed up with Stuart Sanders, one of four Silver Tea Masters in Australia, to compile the Tea Connoisseurs Guide.

Designed for lovers of tea, the guide features Stuart’s insider trade secrets and a step-by-step guide to perfection.

“Most tea drinkers have been brewing tea for many years and feel they can already make a great cup of tea. However, how we learnt to make tea in our early years is not always the best method. The Tea Connoisseurs Guide dispels popular tea-brewing myths and shows you how to brew the perfect cup of tea,” Stuart Sanders said.

Many Australians steep tea in a pot believing this will create a richer taste. However, over-brewing will only create a tannic, bitter effect. To get the ideal aroma, colour and taste Lipton recommends brewing its Quality Black Tea bags for three minutes.

Adding milk before water is also a popular habit. Stuart believes this practice draws bitterness out of the tea bag leaving an unpleasant after-taste. He advises turning the kettle off as soon as it reaches boiling point, then adding milk. Water any hotter than 100°C will burn the tea leaves.

Lipton has been pioneering quality tea since 1890, when Sir Thomas Lipton set sail for Ceylon from Scotland in search of the finest tea leaves.

Since that time, Lipton has been instrumental in creating the popular tea bag and more recently, was the first tea company in Australia to source its tea from Rainforest Alliance Certified™ farms.

The Rainforest Alliance, an independent NGO, is a credible partner to endorse sustainability and its standards protect the environment, the rights and welfare of workers and interests of local communities.

“Since announcing our commitment to source Lipton Quality Black Tea from Rainforest Alliance Certified™ farms we have seen a significant increase in Australians purchasing Quality Black Tea. Sustainability and quality appear to be at the heart of today’s consumers,” said Andrea Martens, Marketing Director for Hot Tea at Unilever.

“Just 12 months after announcing our partnership with the Rainforest Alliance, over 30,000 global tea farms have already been certified by the NGO. As a company we are on track to achieve our goal of having all our tea sourced from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms by 2015,” Andrea Martens added.

Lipton Quality Black Tea sourced from Rainforest Alliance Certified™ farms is available in 11 Australian market leading products, including Lipton Quality Black teabags, Lipton Yellow Label teabags, Lipton Squeezable teabags and Lipton Intense teabags.

Lipton Quality Black teabags are priced at $ 2.99 for 50 teabags to $ 4.55 for 100 teabags.
