Yep, it’s actually called Teaine in Tea (yep!)….the L-theanine creates a balancing effect of the Teaine.
I’ve been doing a bit of reading on the subject and the reason for the more subtle influence of caffeine when drinking tea is an amino acid called L-theanine which is present in tea but not coffee, diet coke etc. Along with some nifty health benefits it acts to calm you down and put you in a state of alert relaxation.
This balance the effects of the caffeine so you are awake and alert but at the same time relaxed and calm.
in case anybody wondered. I gotta drink more tea…
